Talk about perfect timing, the most amazing (and fun!) package arrived via FedEx today and it could not have come at a better moment for the boys and I.
Now I'm not one of those bloggers who gets invited to every (any) Big Name Brand Event or is on every (any) Cool Pitch List, that's for certain. But for whatever reason, a couple of weeks ago Nintendo sent me an email telling me (not asking me, not pitching to me, not requesting anything from me) that they were sending me a Wii Party Party Package in the mail so that my family and I could have a Wii Party Party Night. They didn't ask me to blog about it or review it or to do anything in return; all they wanted was my address and to know if we had enough Wii-motes.
Then today, in a cake-sized box wrapped in a bright pink bow came the Wii Party game, the Mii faces on sticks for the kids, an extra Wii-mote with the new motion sense technology, a $25 gift certificate to Domino's pizza and ten $5 off coupons for the Wii Party game on Amazon.com to pass along to my friends. (Hey, that's you.) (More details on that at the end of this post.)
The boys were ECSTATIC.
"Why'd they send us this, Mom?"
"Did they know we were bein' good?"
"You mean, the people who make the Wii sent it? How did they do that??"
And that was before they even played. There are so many games on the Wii Party game that the boys haven't even had a chance to check them all out but an instant favorite was Board Game Island. The mini games were a big hit with them also. (I can see this being a fun game to break out with a group of adults as well.) And you know something is a homerun when it's bedtime and you warn misbehaving kids to "go to bed or there won't be any Wii Party tomorrow" and they listen. THEY LISTEN.
But, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
I'm giving away the ten $5 off coupons for Wii Party on Amazon.com. To enter, leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite Wii game. Each comment = one entry. Enter as many times as you would like. Enter through Sunday, December 12, 2010 until 8:00 PM Pacific Time for a chance to win.
And many thanks to Nintendo!
DUDE. When we come over, do we need to bring our own Wii-motes to play this? BECAUSE WE GOTTA PLAY THIS. Mikey would love it.
Our favorite games are wii sports and Mario Party. I want to get Toy Story Mania and the new Donkey Kong but he doesn't seem into them.

Okay, seriously rad! I get violently competitive...prepare for a black eye. Or a black guy. Whichever. I don't need to win, I don't have a Wii. Ehem, Santa...

I have so much to say. 1. I kinda love Nintendo for sending this to you. And this may well be the most honest "review" ever. A good reminder to all. 2. I'm totally gonna play when I'm with you in OMG 23 DAYS!!! 3. Fav game by far is DJ Hero because, well, DUH! But I'm looking forward to the Michael Jackson game.

Oh, also, I have been meaning to tell you that I adore the color of your walls. Can you pick out our paint color? It might require an intelligence gathering mission up to these here parts which would also make me ridiculously happy. :D

PERSONALLY, I love DDR. But I am very excited because my 6 year old son is getting Mini Ninjas for Christmas (because what 6 year old boy doesn't need a little ninja action in his life?) and I think he is going to love it.

We haven't played it yet, as it's a Christmas gift, but I have a feeling Toy Story Mania is going to become a favorite here.

My favorite Wii game isn't really a game, but watching my grown son (26) do the hoola-hoop on the WiiFit. Nobody can beat him! And there's nothing funnier in this world that watching him do this. I laugh till I cry every single time.
My sister is coming to visit for Christmas and we are fiercely competitive with WiiGames. The WiiParty sounds like good new fun!

Oh, my boys want this game!
My favorite Wii game is "Fixin' To Give Myself A Heart Attack," but you might know it better by it's given name - Just Dance 2.

I rock at Wii Archery! We just got Wii Fit but haven't had a lot of time for it lately (death in the family). I am also VERY competitive... my kids won't do archery or bowling with me at all anymore. Hmph.
