It's official - The Undomestic Diva's Not-A-Book-Club Book Club has its name (via your votes):
[Imagine drum roll]
Undomestic Readers
[Imagine a loud TA-DAA!!! and Price is Right hand movements showcasing the new name]
So I will get crack-a-lackin' on getting that site up and running. While I do that, please give me your most highly recommended books in the comments section of this post for consideration. That is, besides Janet Evanovich who I plan on including anyway. Remember that these books should be fun, easy, summer-y reads. Not something a gal would need the cliff notes for. The funnier, kookier, clever-er, hotter (oh yeah, I said HOTTER) and intense-er, the better. With the book's title and author, please also tell me in FOUR WORDS or less why you love this book. (Doesn't have to be a sentence, could just be key words. I'm easy.)
Congrats to She Who who came up with "Undomestic Readers." I will be mailing her a $20 gift card to (where else?) Starbucks.
They say coffee and chocolate are kissing cousins. If that's true, then I can't help but believe that coffee, chocolate and a good book must be the world's most perfect threesome. I'm just sayin'.
Can't wait to hear about your book ideas.
Okay, it's really early and I have only had two sips of coffee so I can only think of one book right now. "Swapping Lives" by Jane Green. My four words are Grass Isn't Always Greener.
I'll try to think of more and post later. And I'll let you in on my secret about how I choose books to read.

James Patterson's books about the Women's Murder Club.
1st to Die
2nd Chance
3rd Degree
4th of July
5th Horseman
6th Target
7th Heaven
These are quick, easy reads.

I have two suggestions:
Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner
Empowering, Funny, Charming, Motherhood
Welcome to Temptation by Jennifer Crusie
HOTTTTTT, Funny, Sexy, Family
FYI, the second one is a little racy, but she has a couple of other books that aren't as bad, so I'd recommend those is too much smut is out.

John Grisham's new book The Appeal is a great read.
Posted by: conundrum | 28 February 2008 at 07:12 AM
I've read all of the Stephanie Plum books, almost all Grisham, so let me throw this one in: "Death by Hollywood", by Steve Bochco.

It's REALLY funny and a little raunchy, kind of like the Stephanie Plum books. It would make a great summer read!!!
Also, I've read "Hammerhead Ranch Motel" by Tim Dorsey and thought it was fun and whacky--I see that he has a series of these books so that might be something to test drive.

Oh, oops...sorry about the lack of "four words" in my response. I'm really incapable of such succintness. ;^)

I'd have to then recommend "The Undomestic Goddess" by Sophie Kinsella.
She runs from trouble.
I loved it.

Fortune's Rocks by Anita Shreve is one book I could not put down. It's full of twists, turns, and romance. Highly recommended.
Posted by: Liz | 28 February 2008 at 11:15 AM
The Pilot's Wife and Body Surfing by Anita Shreve. Very good could not put it down and as Liz notes about Fortune's Rocks by Anita Shreve... It is full of twist, turns, and romance.

In case anyone is confused The Pilot's Wife and Body Surfing are two seperate books, but by the same auther.

Meg Cabot books "Size 12 is not fat" (and there are two more in the series.
Freaking funny!
Diana Gabaldon- "Outlander" Series
Long, Sexy, adventur, sexy!

I second "Undomestic Goddess: by Sophie Kinsella.
Picked it up with our own "UD" in mind and thought it was a cute read.
My 4 words are: Lawyer gets a life.
I have also read all of the Stephanie Plum books to include the "between the numbers books" I have found. Would be more than willing to re-read the series.
Jersey girls really rock.
Anything by Florida writers, Tim Dorsey and Carl Hiaansen. They are a hoot.
4 words are: Summer, Beach, Book, Read.

Love the book club name. :)
I just bought Sophie Kinsella's new one Remember Me? I'm looking forward to this read.
I would recommend myself but I might singe everybody's eyebrows off. Just sayin'.

Anything by Jennifer Weiner
Or
The Starter Wife (good summer read takes place on the beach)
Posted by: MssyE | 28 February 2008 at 07:37 PM
Jack Daniels series by JA Konrath:
Wiskey Sour
Bloody Mary
Dirty Martini
Rusty Nail
They are similar to the Women's Murder Club books by James Patterson, but a little more scary. But, very quick reads...page turners...etc.

The Time Traveler's Wife
Love transcends time.

Definitely, most definitely EAT, PRAY, LOVE by Elizabeth Gilbert ~ Extraordinary, Pleasure, Italy, Spiritual-searching
I promise it won't disappoint!
Posted by: courtney | 29 February 2008 at 03:32 PM
The book is Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman.
In four words: sex, drugs, cocoa puffs. What's not to love?
Mayberry Magpie
P.S. In more than four words, it's a book of humorous essays about popular culture. If you want to laugh your ass off and understand why internet porn is so popular, this book is for you.
Posted by: Mayberry Magpie | 29 February 2008 at 06:50 PM
The Other Woman by Jane Green
4 words? "Mother-in-Law Hell" Hysterical and I'm sure a lot of us can relate!
I second Size 12 is Not Fat! and The Undomestic Goddess
Really, anything by Sophie Kinsella (the Shopaholic series) and Meg Cabot are breezy, fun reads.
Confessions of a Shopaholic
Shopaholic Takes Manhattan
Shopaholic Ties the Knot
Shopaholic and Sister
Shopaholic and Baby
I think that's the order of those books...4 words...zany, entertaining, crazy, lovable.
