Candy Ass doesn't particularly care for tattoos. I love them. He thought I was going to have an old tattoo "fixed" yesterday where "fixed" meant having the coloring re-shaded. Which, technically, was absolutely true. I did have that done. And to be fair, I tried to tell him several times about my other plans while at the tattoo shop but he didn't want to hear of it. So.
So.
So now the bastard refuses to even look at my foot. He said (and I quote) that each time he does, he fears "a little piece of him will die." Dramatic much? Let's just hope he can keep his eyeballs upward for the next little while because rumor has it Michael Jackson's funeral just cost us taxpayer's $1.4 million and I doubt Los Angeles can afford to pull out the stops for Candy Ass' untimely death via broken heart via his wife's tattoo. Besides, who knows if Mariah Carey is even willing to come out and sing for Candy Ass too. (Although, from what I hear, that just may be a blessing in disguise.)
Anyway, I digress.
I went, got tattoo'd and am now in a whole lot of pain but very happy with the results. And if my husband is less than thrilled, well, I guess I'll just have to take comfort in knowing that I'm pretty certain (or at least hoping) that he didn't marry me for my pasty white skin.
You can see the whole Flickr set of photos here if you're so inclined.
P.S. I did not cry and I only swore a little bit. I did try to chew on my Blackberry, but in my defense, I didn't eat lunch and was really hungry.
Pretty! Why did you pick a bird? Is there a story?

You look beautiful, even in the throes of agony, and I think the tattoo is awesome.

Nice, but ouch! I thought my wrist hurt until I watched my friend get a starfish on her foot (as big as yours). You my friend, are very brave.

I, too, would like to know if there's a story behind the bird. It's very cute...

I want another tattoo, but I don't want more pain. The place I want it is not as ouchy a place to get it like you did and it's a hell of a lot smaller.
Besides I think I may be just a tad bit too old to be doing that anymore.
Nice tattoo though!

Yeah, I could never do that. I am a wus.

Love it! I've never had the guts to get one and never really can commit to something enough to have it forever.
I'm certain your new tattoo is ideal for these shoes, which I'm sure had to be invented for this exact purpose. I can't see any other reason to wear them, really: http://www.ninewest.com/Ucan/3411795,default,pd.html?cgid=2951462&itemNum=54

That's a hell of a place to get tattooed girl - across the toes?! - you're a trooper! And it looks beautiful. :)

Wow I love it Meg!!! It makes me want another one now!! But I thought you were getting the other one covered or as you put it fixed. I guess you forgot. Anyway, tell Candy Ass color is a lot prettier than pasty white skin anyway so he should consider himself lucky that you are willing to add color to your skin for him. PS when and where are we getting our next Tattoos?

What is the story behing the bird, very pretty though!

I LOVE it! I really want to get another tattoo but I keep changing my mind on what I want so I never go.

a-ha, here I was thinking you were trying to COVER the old tattoo with the new one. I thought you were creating a shoe! Or at the very least, a very cute sock.

It's gorgeous. At first I thought it was a dove with an olive branch (I have picasso's version of that on my back and love love love it) but it looks like a thorn bush. Deep meaning there? I love hearing about the meaning behind people's tattoos.
Now I just need to save up for my Phoenix!

So have you been putting your foot in front of his face for the last 20 hours? Not that I'd ever think of doing such a thing. Yeah. :)

Yes, he is quite dramatic!
Can't see the pics because of work filters, dammit. Gonna go check your twitter stream to see if you posted some there.

Love it! I really love the old-school style of tattoos. I'll probably never get a tat myself though because I could never, ever, ever decide upon a single design knowing that I would have to live with it the rest of my life--I just love too many different designs and 'permanent' just is not a good idea with me and ever-changing tastes. :^)

I love it! I've been thinking of getting a tattoo myself. Think it would be on my shoulder blade though. I just don't really know that I'll ever do it. The foot must really freaking hurt though! Mad props.
Posted by: Ashleigh | 09 July 2009 at 10:46 PM
Love the tat! And I'm impressed that you only bit your blackberry. I bit my sister when I got my first tattoo.
Posted by: Meg | 10 July 2009 at 06:56 AM
Oooh, that's awesome! So brave, getting it there though! The ones on my wrists hurt like crazy, I'm not sure I'd be able to handle the foot.
Back of the neck is where it's at. I have a giant eye there. Minimal pain. And it freaks out grannies on the bus.

I was cringing just looking at the photos. I'm sure I could never do what you did. I too want to know the story behind it. Please share!

It's beautiful! I wanted to get one there but was too much of a chickenshit.
