If you could have a cappuccino (or coffee or latte, WHATEVER) within one minute from start to finish without ever leaving your house, putting on a bra, pants or shoes, finding car keys, standing in line or doling out $2.65 plus would you complain?
OK, you probably would, but not about that, right? Because oh my god I fear for the rest of ya'll because I now have access to round-the-clock cappuccinos (coughCAFFEINEcough) thanks to this sleek, handsome, I may just be a little too into it, Tassimo T20 humdinger of a machine. I don't even want to call it a coffee maker because it out does your normal every day messy filters-and-grounds routines on so many levels, trumping the average coffee maker with its one-button operation and no mess T Discs and that leave you with nothing to clean up. Tassimo is so speaking my language with this bad boy.
On top of all the features the Tassimo T20 claims on its box, it proudly wears the Starbucks symbol which had me tearing open the box quicker than a kid demolishing a present on Christmas morning. BUT, I knew better than to just trust the Starbucks symbol - I mean, c'mon, we've all witnessed Starbucks at Target and know full-well that it is not the same thing as a real, certified Starbucks store. So, I had to give it a try for myself.
Trying the Tassimo T20 was the ultimate test. It doesn't matter how great the coffee is - if I can't work the machine then forget it, the thing is useless. And with an attention span the size of an ant, Tassimo (Bosch) was really working against all odds. I photographed each step so a) you could see for yourself what the T20 is like and b) just in case I managed to cause a small kitchen fire like I've been known to do in the past.
Here's what Tassimo sent me in the mail (for free, I might add!) to try out...
Um, Hello Starbucks Cappuccino T Discs...
I followed the 5 very simple instructions to get her going. I even re-read the instructions a few times because it seemed a little too... easy?
Pure. Excitement. when this bad boy came to life. (Note: No caffeine had been consumed. Yet.)
I picked one of my favorite mugs from the RV/Meg Exclusive Mug Collection (TM) and might have squee'd a little in excitment.
Like I was going to go for anything other than the cappuccino. C'mon now.
So how on earth do you make a cappuccino in a disc-oriented coffee machine you ask? Well, let me tell you. See these T Discs? The one on the right is milk creamer and the one on the left is espresso. Guess what? You use one after the other AND THAT'S AS DIFFICULT AS IT GETS.
First, the milk creamer T Disc. Maybe 30 seconds to steam? Then... foam!
I own a full-blown fancy schmancy espresso machine and I have to say, this is waaaay easier than steaming milk to create cappuccino-worthy foam on that thing.
Then? Just change the T Disc to the espresso one...
NO, THERE WAS NO FIRE. Just steam. Lovely, hot steam. And espresso. In under 30 seconds. It's like a love story for the coffee addicts across the world.
And this, my friends, is the extent of the mess. No more spilling coffee grinds all over the counter or outside of the filter or having them end up in your actual coffee. Just an empty container to toss in the trash. I am so on board with the no mess thing.
And luckily, this story has a happy ending... It's true. It was delightful. It tasted awesome (and you know I'm hella picky about my cappuccinos), it was easy to operate (and you know I require easy) and there was no mess to deal with (and you know I am all about keeping it clean) (well).
But the best part is? Well, besides the fact that I can now be highly caffeinated at all times of the day without having to put a bra on? It's that I get to give away one of these fancy change-your-life Tassimo T20's to YOU.

Dude, coffee is my life force. If I could, I'd pump that shit into my veins each morning. A Starbucks IV drip. I'm waiting for one to be on the market.
In the meantime? I WANT THIS!!!! It's my Christmas wish list. But uh I didn't bother to tell anyone that...so yeah PICK ME!!!!!

Coffee is my best friend because I have a rare blood disorder. It's true. If I have too much blood in my caffeine stream I get all sorts of snarky and rip the heads off squirels. It's messy.

Coffee is my friend because this morning, as I tried to pull into the parking structure of my work, which happens to be situated in the "town center" which is a fancy way of saying big ass mall and a bunch of lame little outside shops, I was nearly rear ended, side swiped, and backed into by mother bleeping bleepers who still have "California Rain Driver" syndrome from Storm Watch 2010 and then I got stuck behind one of those people who insist on walking in the middle of the crowded structure because hey, why not, and when I finally pull into my parking spot realized I forgot my phone at home and what the HELL am I going to do now at work, work?! And nearly lost my mind. But, lo, my kind co worker had lovingly placed a good ole cup of Starbizzle Cap on my desk. So, coffee kept me from killing people, which makes it my best friend.

Coffee is my best friend because it contains caffeine AND can be flavored. I could not wake up without it.

Coffee is my friend because i live in butt ass cold Ohio. So I need caffeine and something hot.

Coffee is my best friend because he shows up at my house in any shape and form I need at the moment. Tall, short, dark, light, foamy, not foamy, all good stuff.

Coffee is my best friend because it gives me strength every morning to face the KAJILLION questions my 4yo asks ALL DAY.
P.S. I love the photo series!

Coffee is my friend because it allows me to be caffeinated enough to control the impulse to shank people at work who are too cheery in the morning.
So really coffee is my friend because it keeps me out of jail.

Coffee is my friend as I'm doing the single parent thing while the hubs is deployed and I stay up to late having "me" time. I love it.

Coffee is my best friend not because I drink any of it...I don't...at all. So why am I here? The spousal unit is addicted to the bean of life. Anything that makes honey happy, makes me VERY happy. Easier for honey to get up, throw a disc or two in a machine and viola, instant happy, instant human and like I said--happy honey, makes me a very happy camper. And you know, I'm just that kind of wife that I'd be willing to win something like this and give it away to honey, so we have marital bliss!

Coffee is my friend because it keeps me out of prison. It allows me to take my anxiety meds with breakfast and that keeps me from murdering the first person that speaks to me before 10 am. I don't think I would do well in a women's prison. I'm much too dainty (ahem.)

Coffee isn't just my friend, it's my best friend. When my son was little, I used to tell him that I loved him more than coffee--so he knew I REALLY loved him. Coffee is the best, most pleasurable liquid ever invented.

Um...I don't even know how to explain how much I love coffee. The co-dependency? EPIC.
(And thanks for the chance, Lady...)

OK, i'm gonna be perfectly honest here... Sometimes I feel like I love Coffee more than my husband... Unless, he's the one making me (and serving me) the coffee. Ok, I guess I also love the barista at Starbucks I see daily...
Mmm. Coffee......

Coffee is my best friend because I just canNOT deal with the non sleeping almost 3 year old in my house unless I have a hit. Shot... whatever.

Confession: I've never had coffee. This sure would make it easy to try something that I hear is delicious, though!

Coffee..It's what makes me feel like I'm part of the grown-up world. I can drink it alone or with friends. (My husband doesn't drink it and only made it for me once. I think he used a whole bag and I had a coffee buzz for two days.)
I travel a lot for work and always seek out a local coffee shop where I can sit, sip, and people watch. Coffee, my best at home and/or traveling friend...

K, a bunch of reasons why:
* Because I have a fascination with Glengarry Glen Ross and the 'coffee's for closers' scene
* Because I started drinking coffee again after having that "went to the hospital" situation in college with coffee
* Because so many LDS women seem to hit on me, that I figure if I get a really bad case of coffee addiction, they might get turned off by the smell of coffee

Coffee is my best friend because I had a baby ten days ago... um... 'nuff said? LOL
If not: think colic

I don't drink coffee but it is my best friend because when my IRL best friend doesn't get her coffee I won't go near her!

Coffee. Coffee is my friend with benefits. He's there for me when I need to wake up, he's there when I need a warm embrace on a cold San Francisco morning. But more than anything he's there when I need more than all of that, then he dresses in his best outfit, covers himself in caramel sauce and whipped cream and let's me have my way with him. Coffee is always there for me.

*pout* so...I don't live in the US...but hey! I have a "Nescafe Dolce Gusto" and this baby is waaay cooler ;)

Coffee is my best friend because it makes the world a much better place....at least for me in the morning.

Coffee is my best friend because it keeps me from killing my husband 10 times every morning when he's asking me where HIS stuff is, as I'm trying to read my favorite blogs.

coffee is my friend because without it the world would be at my door weeping because of the hell i have unleashed upon life.
LOL. true story :D

Coffee is my friend because it's the only one in my house who actually is perky in the morning (perky--pun intended).
But isn't a one-disc espresso cheating? Like using a bread machine?
Posted by: The Mother | 24 December 2010 at 05:47 AM
I think coffee is the only reason why anyone in my house is still breathing. Without it, I would for sure choke one of them. Four kids and a co-dependent husband have to be good enough reasons for addiction of some kind.
Posted by: Sarah | 24 December 2010 at 06:21 AM
Coffee is also my best friend because it has introduced me to several of my current good friends. I go to the same place to get my coffee every morning and am naturally a talker. After seeing the same people every day in the coffee shop and striking up conversation, two or three of them have become very close friends of mine.
Posted by: Sarah | 24 December 2010 at 06:26 AM
I also love coffee because it gives me an excuse to leave my house several times a day. I'm a SAHM and there are only so many times I can go to the grocery store or Target or the gas station. But I can go and get coffee as many times as I want without it being too weird.
Posted by: Sarah | 24 December 2010 at 06:29 AM
Coffee is my best friend because it has the power to cheer me up on even the gloomiest of mornings. And it never, ever talks back.
=)
