If you could have a cappuccino (or coffee or latte, WHATEVER) within one minute from start to finish without ever leaving your house, putting on a bra, pants or shoes, finding car keys, standing in line or doling out $2.65 plus would you complain?
OK, you probably would, but not about that, right? Because oh my god I fear for the rest of ya'll because I now have access to round-the-clock cappuccinos (coughCAFFEINEcough) thanks to this sleek, handsome, I may just be a little too into it, Tassimo T20 humdinger of a machine. I don't even want to call it a coffee maker because it out does your normal every day messy filters-and-grounds routines on so many levels, trumping the average coffee maker with its one-button operation and no mess T Discs and that leave you with nothing to clean up. Tassimo is so speaking my language with this bad boy.
On top of all the features the Tassimo T20 claims on its box, it proudly wears the Starbucks symbol which had me tearing open the box quicker than a kid demolishing a present on Christmas morning. BUT, I knew better than to just trust the Starbucks symbol - I mean, c'mon, we've all witnessed Starbucks at Target and know full-well that it is not the same thing as a real, certified Starbucks store. So, I had to give it a try for myself.
Trying the Tassimo T20 was the ultimate test. It doesn't matter how great the coffee is - if I can't work the machine then forget it, the thing is useless. And with an attention span the size of an ant, Tassimo (Bosch) was really working against all odds. I photographed each step so a) you could see for yourself what the T20 is like and b) just in case I managed to cause a small kitchen fire like I've been known to do in the past.
Here's what Tassimo sent me in the mail (for free, I might add!) to try out...
Um, Hello Starbucks Cappuccino T Discs...
I followed the 5 very simple instructions to get her going. I even re-read the instructions a few times because it seemed a little too... easy?
Pure. Excitement. when this bad boy came to life. (Note: No caffeine had been consumed. Yet.)
I picked one of my favorite mugs from the RV/Meg Exclusive Mug Collection (TM) and might have squee'd a little in excitment.
Like I was going to go for anything other than the cappuccino. C'mon now.
So how on earth do you make a cappuccino in a disc-oriented coffee machine you ask? Well, let me tell you. See these T Discs? The one on the right is milk creamer and the one on the left is espresso. Guess what? You use one after the other AND THAT'S AS DIFFICULT AS IT GETS.
First, the milk creamer T Disc. Maybe 30 seconds to steam? Then... foam!
I own a full-blown fancy schmancy espresso machine and I have to say, this is waaaay easier than steaming milk to create cappuccino-worthy foam on that thing.
Then? Just change the T Disc to the espresso one...
NO, THERE WAS NO FIRE. Just steam. Lovely, hot steam. And espresso. In under 30 seconds. It's like a love story for the coffee addicts across the world.
And this, my friends, is the extent of the mess. No more spilling coffee grinds all over the counter or outside of the filter or having them end up in your actual coffee. Just an empty container to toss in the trash. I am so on board with the no mess thing.
And luckily, this story has a happy ending... It's true. It was delightful. It tasted awesome (and you know I'm hella picky about my cappuccinos), it was easy to operate (and you know I require easy) and there was no mess to deal with (and you know I am all about keeping it clean) (well).
But the best part is? Well, besides the fact that I can now be highly caffeinated at all times of the day without having to put a bra on? It's that I get to give away one of these fancy change-your-life Tassimo T20's to YOU.

I love me some java because it has saved the life of many an idiot during my life. I mean, seriously - they are EVERYWHERE!!!! Home, work, stores, everywhere! Having a nice cup of yummy hot sanity has either made me not notice or has made them look less assenine, but either way, they live to wreak havoc another day! I am not supposed to have caffeine, but I think it's a worthwhile sacrifice, don't you?

Coffee is my best friend because if produces so much pleasure, expects nothing in return and never requires a bra or pants! (Well, unless it has to be acquired at a coffee shop *ahem*)

Coffe is my friend because it makes me warm and happy , it doesn't talk back , complain about what i made for dinner , roll it's eyes at me or have a single need I have to meet , it's all about making me happy , and I like that about it!!

Coming from good Finnish stock could coffee be anything but my friend?!? My dear sweet Finnish g'ma use to let me have coffee at a wee young age ~ lots of milk ~ but still started me on a life long love affair.

Nothing quite beats the smell of coffee brewing merrily (in my worn out pot) in the morning. Heaven help me on those mornings I wake up with coffee & grounds all over the counter...

Coffee is my best friend because it ALWAYS smells good and it's full of warmth and spunky energy.

Coffee is my best friend because without it? I don't think my son would still be alive...or at least leaving in the same house as me. Just sayin', 3 year olds can be a bit much before I've had my coffee. Truth be told, even after the coffee he's a bit much at times.

Coffee is not just MY best friend. (It is my bestie, because it makes me have something to look forward to in the morning, at 8AM, 8:15AM 8:30AM...you get the picture.) But it is a lot of other people's best friend, because; well, I am a little (oh comon, a hell of a lot) more tolerable after I have had my gallon or so of coffee.

Coffee is my best friend because without it...I'd probably have no friends. I'm THAT cranky in the morning. And sometimes the afternoon. And occasionally after dinner.

Ummm. Coffee is my best friend because it is warm and I love to cuddle up with it and there are no expectations......

Coffee is like my second husband, or probably more like my piece on the side if my real husband is any indication of what most husbands are like. It's warm and soothing when my husband is not, eases my stress when my husband is creating it, and if it talked I bet it would tell me my ass looks great in these pants. Truth be told, my husband is pretty awesome. Coffee is just my pick me up even he could never give me.

Coffee is my best friend because days at home with an energetic 4 yo with special medical needs and SPD drains every drop of energy from me. Coffee every morning mercifully resupplies the energy I need to face a new day full of surprises.
=)

also, forgot to add, it's my bff because it's always there, either at home OR at the starbucks shop in my school.

Yummm, coffee! Coffee is my friend because it serves the dual purpose of waking me up enough to get my kids to the bus stop, and the warm mug keeps my hands from getting frostbite on the cold Chicago mornings! Also, I would just love this because my husband works at night, so he wants coffee at night to wake up, and I need it in the morning. No more wasted pots of Joe!

Coffee is the best thing about being an adult. I suppose having sex with whomever I want would actually be the best thing, if I were actually doing that. But since I quit drinking (mostly) and haven't found anyone I want to have sex with that feels the same way about me, well, coffee it is.

Coffee isn't just my best friend, it's in my blood. I'm Swedish, and if I don't have enough coffee in my blood stream I could get my ancestery revocked! I need coffee--now!
Posted by: Editdebs | 26 December 2010 at 08:07 AM
Um, yeah, that should have been revoked--not revocked. (I be an editor!)

I teach emotionally disturbed children, I think that makes it self explanatory why I *need* coffee...and lots of it! :)
Posted by: Jamie | 26 December 2010 at 10:39 AM
And really? I have 8 of those students...so i pretty much need one cup per kid per day. Right?? I could take thing thing to work right?
Posted by: Jamie | 26 December 2010 at 10:42 AM
See, and also? If i didn't drink coffee, everyone at the school that I work at would think I was a bitch because well, that is what happens when I don't have coffee. For reals. And it is not good when people that you work with think that of you. At all. Are you seeing why I need coffee???
Posted by: Jamie | 26 December 2010 at 10:44 AM
coffee is my friend because it doesn't talk back :)
Posted by: carmen | 26 December 2010 at 10:46 AM
OH, and ALSO???? I am back in college. So I need coffee at multiple times during the day. Not kidding. You said there was no comment limit right? RIGHT?
Posted by: Jamie | 26 December 2010 at 10:47 AM
also, i don't drink much so coffee is like my alcohol :)
Posted by: carmen | 26 December 2010 at 10:47 AM
i'm back in college too... so caffeine is obviously going to be my best friend at this time.
Posted by: carmen | 26 December 2010 at 10:50 AM
Eveyone in my house knows that when I first wake up in the morning and when I first get home from my 12 hour shifts no one is allowed to talk to me unless they are on fire! I'm a nurse and I breathe life and death. Those couple minutes sipping coffee I get ready for the worst and then I unwind trying to remember the good and put the bad behind me. It's the couple minutes I need to stay whole. It's my gravity.
Posted by: Jeanne | 26 December 2010 at 10:51 AM
Let me think. There is also the fact that I actually really do like the taste of it. Not just for the fact that it gets my going in my day and keeps me going. I really don't know how I lived before I started drinking coffee.
Posted by: Jamie | 26 December 2010 at 10:52 AM
oh and I'm taking the LSAT in June. I'm trying to get an insanely high score on it (I should be committed to a mental hospital- I'm crazy) and so I voluntarily subject myself to being a full time student, mom, wife AND study for the LSAT 4 hours/day. If anything, just give me the damn machine to give me a reason to keep going (lol)
Posted by: carmen | 26 December 2010 at 10:53 AM
Okay, you got me. I need this for all my hotel-motel-end of the road campground stays. Must have. Must.
